OUR CURRICULUM

INSIDER'S GUIDE TO JUDAISM
Our flagship course provides an in-depth introduction to basic beliefs of Judaism, prayer, Torah and other written sources, the rabbis and sages, Jewish history, Jewish law, the Jewish home including keeping kosher and Shabbat, the calendar and holidays, life cycle events, and the Jewish people. The course will conclude with an overview of the concept and process of conversion to Judaism and a unit on the Noahide laws for non-Jews.

OUR TEACHER

Chana Kaszemacher came to Judaism as an adult. She converted to Orthodox Judaism in 1982. In 1985, she moved from the USA to Jerusalem, Israel to be a full time seminary student and deepen her Torah knowledge. After 18 months in seminary, she moved to Tzfat in northern Israel to make a home and raise a family. Chana is a respected member of the Orthodox community in Tzfat.

Chana began volunteer teaching in her teens and public speaking in her twenties. She is a natural writer, teacher and public speaker who finds great pleasure in sharing her knowledge and life experiences.

She initiated her Torah and Judaism outreach work to non-Jews in 2008. She has her own Facebook page: Tree of Life Wisdom Academy. She developed Insider's Guide to Judaism as an expansion of that outreach work. Her students span the globe. They come from USA, Nigeria, United Kingdom, Europe, Pakistan, India, Philippines and South Africa.

She brings to her courses her love of God and the Torah way of life. She passionately shares her knowledge and understanding, learned formally during seminary study, and informally through adult education classes in the community, reading and personal discussions with rabbis and teachers. Her experiences of living the religious life for many years as convert, wife, mother and community member have given her wisdom which she generously shares with her students.

Living Torah Lesson

**Rabbi Tzadok said: "Do not make the Torah a crown for self-glorification, nor a spade with which to dig." So too Hillel used to say" "He who exploits the crown of Torah for personal benefit shall fade away." From this we learn that whoever seeks personal benefit from the words of Torah removes his life from the world.** Pirke Avot 4:7

What is meant by personal benefit? The traditional understanding is that one should not use his or her Torah knowledge to earn a livelihood.

With this teaching in mind and on the advice of our rabbis, Tree of Life Wisdom Academy does not charge for our courses.

King Solomon says, "Happy is the person who finds wisdom [of the Torah], and the one who derives understanding, for [the Torah's] merchandise is better than silver, the yield is better than fine gold, and more precious than pearls. All the things you desire cannot compare." (Proverbs 3: 13-15)
